Max Calmer is a complementary feed that has been formulated with a multi- ingredient approach that will support and help horses maintain a calm, focused temperament and reduce the effects of stress when under increased pressure of traveling, competing or in overwhelming situations, without affecting normal behaviour or your horses’ personality. New Max Calmer is the latest product from Maximum Animal Health and contains a blend of scientifically proven active ingredients. Horses show signs of being anxious for a wide number of reasons and Max Calmer has been developed with a multi-ingredient approach that will support and help horses maintain a calm, focused temperament and can improve focus and reduce the effects of stress when under increased pressure of traveling, competing or in overwhelming situations.

With Maximum Animal Health’s multi-ingredient approach and formulation, the ingredients work in different ways to help, and can start to work within two-three hours and the full benefits can be seen in most horses within two to three weeks.

✔ L-Tyrosine: L-Tyrosine is an amino acid and is a precursor for the neurotransmitter’s dopamine and adrenaline, which is linked to the lowering of stress in horses. It is also considered a natural mood stabiliser that helps the production of serotonin that has important functions including helping towards the physiological regulation of stress.

✔ Magnesium (Mg): Magnesium is linked to reducing anxiety and helping to maintain normal nerve transmission and wellbeing in the horse. It is also an essential mineral that horses require for proper nerve and muscle function. It is also involved in over 300 metabolic processes in the horse’s body, and horses that are not receiving the correct amount of magnesium in their diet may be irritable or nervous.

✔ Sepiolite clay: Sepiolite clay supports the horse by absorbing and acting as a buffer to excess stomach acid that can damage the stomach lining. In times of stress, horses can lose their appetite, causing stomach acid to splash onto the stomach mucosa (lining) and cause ulcers

✔ Yeast/Digestive additive (Prebiotics): To help reduce and protect the hind gut from digestive stress so helping to reduce behaviour issues associated with discomfort

✔ B6/B1 Vitamins: The B vitamins 1 and 6 are associated with the function of the nerves and energy metabolism. B1/thiamine plays a key role in carbohydrate metabolism, acting as a co-enzyme to support the transformation of nutrients into energy. Deficiencies in B1 thiamine can lead to poor appetite and nervousness and it has been demonstrated that supplementation can improve concentration and reduce excitability. B6 is Important for normal brain development and keeping the nervous and immune systems functioning correctly.

Max Calm is Ideal for horses during excitable or stressful situations such as competitions, separation anxiety, loading, travelling, hacking, farrier, dentist visits and to help excitable horses settle during turnout.

Feeding Instructions:

Daily rate 30g fed once a day.

If your horse becomes stressed in situations like shows, travelling, major changes of routine or overwhelming situations you can increase the feeding rate to 50g the day before and during the period of increased stress.

The benefits of using Max Focus & Calm may be seen in some horses within hours of feeding, however in other horses it may take up to two weeks for the full benefits to show.
